A short while back in another thread, someone mentioned the Max Mosley affair. In today's PitPass, Paul Stoddard writes on the implications of this with regard to the future of the FIA. Many don't know it, but Mosley's parents were wed in Berlin at Josef Goebbels' home and Adolph Hitler was the guest of honor at the nuptials.

In 1972 I had some brief dealings with Mr. Mosley. I owned the ex-James Hunt March 703. The chassis was in a friend's shop when Mosley was there on a contract detail / sales visit. Mosley was the "M" in March. I asked him to authenticate the chassis even though I had the log book and other items of provenance. He agreed and quickly added, "Of course, it will cost cost you two hundred fifty quid."

Both fellows have lined their pockets primarily through Formula One. Mosley absolutely hates Ecclestone not only because of Bernie's religious ancestry but because Bernie still controls most everything despite any FIA authority.

One wonders if both Mosley and Prince Harry get their bespoke German uniforms made in the same very private basement shop on The Row.

That was a good one.

On a more serious note, it is a pity that this is shaping up to overshadow what will be a very interesting season in F1. And possibly affect negatively every other major FIA-run event...

Props to Herr Mosley for not undervaluing his services

250 quid was a decent amount back then.

I seem to remember buying MG Midgets and AH Sprites (used of course) for not much more than that back then.

At least he didn't quote it in Reichsmarks...
