Those aren't dress shirts, they're casual shirts, hence the S M L XL sizing.

A real dress shirt is sized according to neck size and sleeve length. Example: 16 x 34.

Forget about ties with these shirts and wear them casually.

i also own a few dress shirts that have too much material around the waist..would it be a good idea to bring it to a tailor and have it fitted? would it be too expensive for the type and cost of shirt ($75)?

i think those are more business casual shirts..something you can wear without a tie and just a pair of slacks..

Yes, and no it shouldn't be outrageously priced. Any competent tailor I've been to offers such a service, mine for eg. charges $15 to take-in a dress shirt.

Cost totally depends on the tailor and where you live...no easy answer.

The collars probably don't fit right on the Crew shirts b/c of the SMLXL sizing. If the OP must wear a tie with them, I'd recommend waiting until Crew puts ties on sale for $10 or so and just getting some of those. Don't wear a striped tie with a striped shirt unless the stripes are much different in scale. Actually, I would just avoid striped ties with those shirts altogether.
