Matching Brown Shoes with clothing

Hi,

I have always worn Grey (all shades), navy blue, pin stripe suits and when I am not wearing suits - its always trousers in similar colors. Most of my shirts are white (with a few exception of sky blue or some other very light color). I have always used black shoes and black belts matched with a black leather bag or a black laptop bag.

I am these days fancying brown shoes (tan / brown etc.). I am not sure if I need to wear brown trousers / suit to go with it? How do I match the belt? Can I wear my existing suits / trousers with brown shoes? What do you think would appropriate matches with brown shoes?

I think my black flannel wool trousers matches my dark brown shoes very well. The shoes stands out. I like it the same way I like how a camel/light brown scarf matches a black coat.

I would not wear black trou with them, but YMMV.

1. Contrasting colours (your existing suits & pants) will work fine.
   
2. The belt doesn't have to perfectly match the shoe colour. A complimentary colour will be fine.
   
3. Yes.
   
4. Avoid black and avoid a pant colour too close to the colour of the brown/tan shoes you wear.

I am a bit jittery about buying brown shoes (I have never bought any after school - they were the uniform then). Also, its quite a bit of investment...
