Long time lurker and first time poster here.

I'm a godfather at a christening at the weekend and intend to wear the tie below, but wanted to move away from my usual white pocket square, what sort of colours would be best, I was thinking something like the square below

feel free to blast my choice and suggest better!

To my mind they are a bit too close together. If you're wearing a colored shirt, I'd match the ps to it. Otherwise, do you have a bronze or deep orange ps? That would compliment the blues in the tie very well. Yellow would work, too.

They are really too close to each other, how about something with a solid color?

I genuinely like non-white pocket squares. But in this case, I'd recommend a white square.

Maybe a cotton or linen one, not silk, with a colored border. A navy border would be the obvious choice with that tie, although depending on what else you're wearing, some other color might work well, too.

See, a lot depends on what color suit you're going to be wearing (and you neglected to say), as well as what color shirt (and you also neglected to mention that).

The Tie Bar offers a selection of white cotton pocket squares, with colored edges, for about $8 each. At that price, I figured I'd pick up a few. They're not the greatest pocket squares in the world, but they're okay, and for 8 bucks I can't regret buying them.

Of course, since you're asking for help all of 72 hours or so before the christening, you haven't time to buy by mail. You're limited to those pocket squares which you already own (and you haven't told us what they are), or pocket squares available from retail stores near you (and you haven't indicated where you are).

But in any case, congratulations on becoming a godfather.

Cut up a daiper into a tidy little square. You never know when you will need to wipe sumpin' up with a baby nearby.

I agree. I'd prefer a solid color nothing too flashy at the christening

Thanks for the advice, I was planning on wearing a navy pinstripe sit, witha whiten shirt, or a pale blue shirt (with or without white collar/cuffs).

I think I'll likely go with a white cotton square to be on the safe side, as most of my other squares are either pale or dark blue.
