I've seen mention of his ties before. Can anyone comment on the quality?

You're thinking of Massimo Bizzocchi, who was - I believe - Kiton's head of US operations and/or tie production before starting off on his own.

Wiser folks than I can give you detail on the CV of Bizzocchi, but I can say from experience that the ties are well-made, with a slip-stitch, medium-to-thick interlining and an excellent hand.

Those that I have are woven.

I have seen them - and bought them - at Filene's for as little as $20.

Yes, of course, sorry about the spelling. You'd think a newspaper editor could spell [IMG]

i agree that they are very well made, typically with heavy silk and interlining - making for a very substantial knot. they're not 4/7 folds though, just 'regular' construction. they're always found at discount outlets, so I'd rate them a great value.

The ties are a good value, especially considering that they retail for substantially less than similarly constructed ties. Their designs are not my bag though.

Love them, both the silks and construction. Highly recommended.

I've seen quite a few of these at good values, and like them quite a bit. Gary's outlet does usually have these at 70% off (about $30)

Excellent ties. I believe Massimo is still the head of Kiton's U.S. operations.

Wow drizz, $30 for these ties.? That's a great buy. I see these at Neiman-Marcus and have bought some during Last Call. They have an original retail of @$120. I've bought a few on Ebay too. Very nice ties -- thick, so they make an big, easy to dimple knot.

Last Call in Dallas has almost all of the Bizzocchi ties reduced down to $32.50 with some in the $20+ range

If you are anywhere near Dallas I would recommend heading to their tie rack before it is picked clean, I bought 10 ties today (Nicky, Brioni, Bizzochi ) and many others were buying more, I suspect they were ebay resellers.

Yeah, Gary's outlet may have a few items left, I bought a bunch of their Brioni, Barbera, etc... for 70% off to resell, keep, or give as gifts, they have 70% for most everything in stock for those interested though.

Just got a blue and silver paisley Bizzocchi Kiton tie on ebay for $33. That and a red Carlo Franco 4 fold from his website the other day makes it a pretty good week for me.

Do not like them. I think the buttonholed tie keep is lame, find the construction generally underwhelming (though not for $30), and am not crazy about the patterns.

I'll have to give them an okay. At least the one I have is well made, but it is no where near the substantial quality of Borrelli,Brioni, Ricci, Barbera ties in my eye. I would not purchase any more of them.
