Returning to the subject of ties, this is the one Ed is selling direct from his site, at the Massdrop price:

Is that a windsor knot? Looks better than I would have guessed. Also, interesting that the 8cm tie here does not look emaciated, I'm assuming you are not a hipster waif. BTW, I only had 2 of these on the site and they sold right away.

I think it goes back to what I said a page or two ago, about the tie's being consonant with a medium to narrow lapel and/or a slightly more casual style: the higher button stance on this "Havana" cut makes it look fatter. Anyway, glad you like it!

As I have a massive head, I find a medium spread collar suits me best so I don't think a smaller knot would work - with either head or collar. Also, I don't like the skinny asymmetric four-in-hand in general, which is very much for the hipster waifs in my book! I like a double four in hand for a really casual knit or maybe grenadine. I do rock a Windsor sometimes, especially with conservative business dress (bite me, Styleforum!), but this is a Pratt/Shelby knot, which I find gives just enough substance and the symmetry I prefer. I love how easily it dimples and holds shape with this tie.

Congratulations to whoever picked up the last of these beauties: I'll post pics of the two from the Drop that I already have, shortly.

These are going for about 35% less than Panta's usual retail, so no need to fear that you're violating your rule.

Yeah, but not as bad as mimo. Then again, it's in his job description.

On which note, today's tie (includes complimentary nostril inspection):

8cm, rust.

As I noted yesterday, wearing a jacket with a slightly higher buttoning point makes the tie look wider. Today is the opposite. However, the 8am width is at the widest point so doesn't tell the whole story: I've 10cm wide ties that are narrower than this under the knot. How the tie tapers makes a big difference. These, in the modern style, are relatively straight, so with a closed jacket they are no narrower than many wider ties - at least the visible part isn't.
