I like my 8cm Panta's more than my 9cm Panta's.

Come to think of it, nothing to do with width. I get my Hobers 8.5.

^Are they actually 8 cm dead-on, or a little bit over that? More like 3.25?

I normally go for a wider tie, but as all three of my Pantas came at 8cm, I'm used to them that way: my new one will be the same. Different moods, suits or jackets with narrower or different shaped lapels - I think there's room for more than one tie width on the rack.

Me too. Then had regret and went back for the brown one too. Rust and green I have already. And the light blue one that shows in the ad!

Thanks for adding that one guys. Come on, hands up who wants the burgundy one for the full colour spectrum!

As far as the mass drop listing, I think you should get rid of the pic of the light blue tie since it's not being offered. I don't know why it's being displayed so prominently.

As I slowly replace my ties with more tasteful patterns, textures, and materials I'm also buying them wider. At this point, 8cm is much wider than the Black Fleece and mall brand ties, which I think are around 6.5 cm. 9 sounds bib-like.

Oh. Hum. Pretty much all my ties are 8cm wide, and I've never thought of them as too skinny.
However, the fact that I can now choose a width changes everything. So, I need help.

I'm pretty tall with wide shoulders, and I just measured my lapels: 9cm.
So this all points to 9cm, from what I've read. However, I am in my mid-twenties, and narrower ties are hip, apparently.
I will be starting my first real job in a few months, and I don't want to look like I've borrowed a tie from my father...

What to do?!

Light blue is available on panta website at Massdrop price. And it's superb. Everyone should get it. But then again I've bought all of these so wtf do I know.

I bought the 9 cm width but dearly wish that 8.5 (or even 8.75) were offered. See I've been told (by people on here) that my ties are too narrow. (In fairness, I agree; I don't prefer the narrow knots). But I've lost weight and I actually like the proportion of 3.3 inch width to my new frame. 8 is too narrow, esp up top and 9 will be too wide. On the assumption I will get fat again, I went wider.

Isn't 9 cm (~3.5") the industry standard for most ties? Also in the MassDrop discussion it said sales of 9cm vs 8cm were outnumbered at about 4:1. I picked 9cm as I thought it's the safer choice, but I see some experienced members here recommending 8.
