Thinking about taking a trip this weekend to one of the two. At this time of year, what should I be considering when making the choice? I'm looking for a relaxing time with the gf and a decent selection of restaurants.

No offence to you, but I think that I am just going to do a thing where I respond to threads with 'bite me'

Both will be quiet enough. Martha's is easier to get to which may be a significant factor for a short stay

Nantucket. Forget the Jared Coffin House. Stay at the Nesbitt Inn just down the street. Make sure to have brunch at the Brotherhood next door.

Well, now she doesn't want to go, so the point's moot. Maybe next weekend. Does Martha's have anything to offer that Nantucket doesn't besides "less"?

Depends on where you go on the Vineyard. Edgartown is very no-socks, Republican. Oak Bluffs is old African-American aristocracy, lots of cool Victorian houses. Vineyard Haven is a bit earthier, although pleasant enough. Then you get Chilmark, Menemsha, etc., further south which are much more away from things. Off-season, of course, you might find the whole island deserted except for construction crews.

Nantucket used to be more remote than the Vineyard, but that could have changed b/c of the bull market and increased prevalence of private jets.

In the minority here, but I've always preferred the Vineyard.

It's just missing something about the GAP.
