So I've graduated with a degree in psychology with the original intent of going on to a PhD in clinical psych in the next two years, but the further I get from graduation, the less I'm sure of that plan. I'm currently working as a research assistant in my university's psych dept, and while I like the job, if has made me realize that I might be better suited to a career in private industry. Psych as a degree is pretty limiting without extensive further work experience, but one place that it's considered valuable and even desirable is with market research companies. Anyone have any experience working for or with market research companies like Ipsos? Is the work interesting? I assume I'd be starting as a market research analyst, and the skills required for that are very similar to the skills I've been developing for the last three years of psych research.
