The Marinella reps will be coming to Bergdorf Goodman this Friday and Saturday. I've been continuously checking Bergdorf Goodman's web site for this event. But, there is still no mention of it. The only reason I know is that my Customer Service Rep knows I'm a Marinella fan and called me this morning. I know - the real reason he called is because of his sales commission.

They bring tons of fabrics/designs/colors with them. Although I don't have the exact numbers, they usually have about 30 to 40 designs with about 3 different color variations. I usually spend a few hours going through each one and putting aside those that get my attention the most. Then, from that pile, I will usually narrow it down to about 5 or 6 ties. They take approximately 2 months to arrive at your door.

Now, I've got to see if I can take Friday off so I can make the drive up to NYC... Hopefully, my boss will have some empathy.

Could I get a ballpark figure on the pricing?

And perhaps some more info on styling for those of us unfamiliar with the brand? The ones visible on their website seem to be mostly plain foulards. What's distinctive about this company?

I'm positive. They usually come to Bergdorf Goodman twice a year - April and October. Although this year, they were not there in April. It has always been Friday and Saturday.

Last October, I believe they were approximately $200. I'm sure their prices how gone up, like everything else.

They have regimental, foulards, and neats. Their designs are very conservative for lack of a better term. However, each time I visit them at Bergdorf Goodman, they seem to get a little more courageous with their designs. But, they are still conservative designs. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera so I cannot provide you with examples from my collection.

Like I previously stated, they bring a ton of fabrics with them. They will take some measurements to see if they need to make them longer, shorter, etc. They do an outstanding job of keeping the design balanced when they fold and make the fabric into a tie. I'm anal when it comes to this.

These are woven ties that feel thick, yet are very light. They make beautiful knots and lie very smoothly. I also love Charvet ties, which also make beautiful knots. However, it's extremely easy to damage Charvet ties. Marinella ties are very sturdy and have held up well over the course of time. They are self-tipped and have no interior linnings.

    Hopefully, this helps?

Completely hand-sewn hand-made ties, with the best english silk available.

Traditionally they make a neapolitan tie, without lining. But you can order 7-fold, with linings of different weight, sizes large and long as you want.

In Milano I pay them 90€ for bespoke.

They also have a special service: you send your Marinella tie with a bad stain over it, they will disassemble completely it, wash the silk, and will re-make it by hand. €5 per tie.

it's amazing (and frustrating) how much we have to pay here for italian products..that's why i buy so much (value of euro notwithstanding) each time i come to italy..10 ties and 4 shirts last may while visiting verona and milano..fortunately in new york city there are enough fine shops and i can sometimes buy these items at good prices when on sale..of course, often i don't have the patience to wait..
