Looks great, gaz. However, I remain a bit confused by the notion of a three-piece fresco.

I recall having this discussion before. Didn't really see an issue with a three piece Fresco. Just went for versatile travel suit. I have another three piece comissioned in the London Lounge PoW Brisa. That should be interesting.

jesus, gaz, either you've lost a shitload of weight, or that suit is performing miracles.

Lost about 12kgs. Damn stubborn Neapolitan and Florentine tailors kept cutting tight fits. Decided that it was far easier to loose weight than to convince them in broken Italian that I wanted a fuller cut. When are you back in town?

Damn, dude, 12KG. You look great. (not trying to imply you were a ***** like me or anything, but you look SKINNY now.) I'm holding off on doing anything with my cloth til I can do something like you did, but so far not much progress. I am eating an avocado for lunch though so keeping fingers crossed.

Hopefully back around in April. Been a crazy year, not much travel, but I have to get back on the horse before customers start jumping ship. You'll hear from me, don't worry about that.

Some 3pcs look really, really nice- this is a good example. And I'm tempted to try one.

Since I'm almost always warm, an open weave sounds like just the ticket.

Even without my particular condition, I can't imagine nowadays that anyone wears one for the warmth, only for the steez.

I like a three piece for some fresco suits because they are good for travel. The vest is small and packs easily but is handy on the plane or if one end of the trip is cooler than the other.

But, yes, it is mostly steeziness.

how anyone can wear a suit in Hong Kong, yet alone a three piece is beyond me and my gaping Nordic pores. But I see them in heaps even during August/September. Suddenly Fresco makes a whole lot of sense.

Funny... somehow I didn't think this was how the bespoke process worked.

I visited Fukaya when I was in Florence a couple of years ago. Really beautiful shoes, but the logistics of a bespoke shoe order in Florence were not there for me. Same for a fantastic new shoemaker I saw in Rome this summer, right next to Marini, which I would also have loved to try. I wonder if your Florentine MBT is the same as mine. I got my recommendation from my wife's dressmaker there. I never tried him, though. Like with Fukata, I wasn't spending enough time in Florence to have a suit made (unlike my wife who was willing to make day trips from Rome).

Why were you interested in Marini? I visited them a couple years ago and didn't find them significantly compelling to make the effort.

G. Marini Via Francesco Crispi, 97 They were the only Roman bespoke shoe maker I was able to find mentioned previously on these boards but there has not been much discussion about them. To my eye they seem to make relatively conservative shoes compared to their Italian counterparts such as Lattanzi and Scafora. Their finishing is also quite conservative with a mild non-fiddleback waist. I didn't inquire about the price given that I'm not in the market for a new shoemaker and I'm wasn't returning to Rome anytime soon. ^ @ dopey - you know Marini visits NYC to conduct bespoke fittings, right? You could just meet them then - I believe the next visit is over the summer.
