I was at a bar this afternoon and someone played the song "Mansion On The Hill" by Bruce Springsteen in the jukebox. In the middle of the song I found myself absorbed in the lyrics which seemed to be of a hopeful subject matter but sung in a very sad way. Can anyone help explain any of the hidden symbolism that might be in the song? I have found that I often miss subtle meaning in music and literature despite my effort.

The Wizard of Oz is about monetary policy.

Nonsense! It's merely filler by which to provide a backdrop to listen to Dark Side of the Moon. That it goes on past when the album ends is purely coincidental.
