Yup, Unbound based on Superman: Brainiac and the bottled city of Kandor.

What no Superboy Prime? He should count as he was the "Superman" from his universe.

I'd have also liked to have seen Superman from Secret Identity get his respect. It's easily my favorite complete Superman story ever.

EDIT: Seriously if you have not read Secret Identity, go do so now. It's a wonderful read and continues to hold up well.

EDIT2: I just realized that these both are different tellings of the same concept. A boy born in the "real word" where the comicbook version of Superman exists in print and other fictional media and where he one day finds himself waking up with the character's powers.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed yet, but any one think there will be a batman cameo to jump start the justice league movie?
Movieline reporter Frank Digiacomo asked Nolan point-blank if the upcoming Superman film Man of Steel (watch the trailer) would feature a Batman cameo in any form – including an appearance by Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character John Blake who – SPOILER ALERT! - we last saw take on the mantle of Batman during the closing moments of The Dark Knight Rises.

Nolan’s actual response to the inquiry was, “I can’t talk about that. You know that,” but Digiacomo makes subjective note of the director’s facial expression, which he describes as an “enormous Cheshire-Cat grin.” He also noted Nolan’s tone as “cheerily” when he brushed off the question.

I'm not opposed to a Batman cameo - but please don't let it be JGL as John Blake. Keep it real.

I doubt they will want to reboot the franchise so quickly after Nolan's successful work. I'm thinking if they go for a cameo it's got to be JGL.

I would seriously hate it if it were JGL.

If they are planning to follow the Avengers model with Justice League (which everything looks like they are) it makes more sense to reboot batman, rather than use JGL.

Secret Identity was great - now I want to go back and reread it.

The best Superman story I've read in a long time is:

Superman is really just a supporting character in an intensely personal quasi-autobiography. If you haven't already, read it ASAP.

Early Buzz: ‘Man of Steel’ Is An Action-Packed, Great Time

Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel has begun to screen and word is that it’s fantastic. We’d heard that executives at Warner Bros. truly loved the film and now, reports are coming in from other people too. (And from people who don’t have billions and billions of dollars potentially invested in the success of a rebooted Superman.)

In particular, JoBlo is reporting the film is nearly complete (save for the 3D conversion) and despite the somber tone the trailers suggest, the film is chock full of action. We’ll talk more specifics below.

Here are the bullet points the JoBlo article make about Man of Steel. Their words, not ours.

- Imagine a Nolan story with Snyder effects/action
- It’s the best movie of the year.
- There’s TONS of action with Superman kicking all kinds of *** in his suit.
- The cape is CG’d most of the time so it can look awesome.
- They have intentionally left out most of the the Super action in trailers to save it.
- It’s not nearly as dour and serious as the trailers suggest.
- The movie is complete, minus the 3D post-conversion, which is currently taking place
- Calling it “the best movie of the year” is a bit pre-mature but all of this is still quite promising.

In addition to this report, sometimes just living in Hollywood and conversing with people you hear things. And one of the things I’ve heard is that everything this scooper told JoBlo is right. That everyone who has seen Man of Steel loves it and it’s the ***-kicking, action-packed and heartfelt Superman movie you can’t wait to see.

If the film is that good (or even half that good) it means very good things for all DC movies moving forward, Justice League in particular.

With release scheduled for June 14, we’ll likely be seeing some updated, more action-specific, trailers in the coming weeks. Definitely with The Hangover Part III (which comes out a month earlier and has yet to release a teaser) and hopefully sooner.

Have you heard anything like this about Man of Steel? Does this get you excited?

Despite the "dour tone," of initial trailers, I will continue to hope this movie absolutely lights up critics. Now, I feel slightly more justified in believing so.
