Malaysia retail points?

Going to Malaysia (Penang and KL) for Chinese New Year (17th-24th).

Are there any spots I should check out? Did a search and I see I should definitely check out P. Lal for shoes, although they only have C&J/Cheaney/Loakes currently.

Any opinions on the 3 above?

Shoes: Hmm... the shopping center at the base of the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur (KLCC shopping center) has a Moreschi shop (www.moreschishoes.com). Also a Porosus shop (hyper-expensive crocodile shoes). KL also has "Starhill" shopping center in Bukit Bintang that has loads of overpriced luxury brands in one place. PLal is probably a much better bet.

Gowns...: For women's gowns, I recommend Carven Ong at the top floor of Lot10 shopping center in Bukit Bintang. Good price, great bespoke quality. Need wife for fitting. Make wife happy.

For someone living in KL I don't have much clothing advice. Susah lah.

The top shopping areas i'd reccommend in KL are:

Suria KLCC - you'll get your american and european brands here, the prices aren't always that much cheaper though. [Figuring in the exchange rate]

Bukit Bintang/Sungai Wang/Low Yat/Lot 10 - golden triangle of shopping centres - clothes, electronics etc. Bintang walk is the new 'hip' nightlife area of KL, but don't expect too much. A lot of middle-of-the-range local and imported brands.

Markets: Petaling St - chinatown. [all day and all night] You need to push the price down by at least 60% because the vendors there are very aggressive.
Bangsar Markets [Pasa malam] - sunday nights

Penang- there are some great market areas in penang in the city centre. Much more friendly and local than KL and probably better bargains. Low on designer brands or anything of that such.

There are at least 10 other major shopping malls in KL, but I'm trying to remember the more up-market ones.
