Ok so i'm a college student who is starting to build my professional wardrobe and i am looking to pick up some nice mens shoes for my upcoming intership next semester. I was loooking at a pair of magnanni shoes and was wondering if they are decent quality shoes. Then were on benniesshoes.com. Just really wondering if these were any good. I was also looking at a pair of grenson that i hope to be picking up as well as there seems to be a lot of talk about them as being really high quality shoes. Any info or thoughts of any other shoes would be appreciated, i would like to stay in the below $175 range as i don't have a ton of money to spend on shoes as i need suits as well.

    Thanks
    Nik.

Magnanni is a very good Spanish manufacturer. If it were a choice between them and Grenson I'd say save your money and buy Grenson.

Yeh i really like a pair of the grensons but i didn't want to buy both a black and a brown grenson of the same kind so i thought i would switch it up. On another note what should i look for in a good dress shoe and what makes the grensons so great? What are people thoughts on owning two of the same shoe just in different colors? Sorry for all the questions but i'm kind of new with suits and nice dress shoes.

    thanks
    Nik.

I've got the same shoe in multiple shades. Got the 2 different sets of Allen Edmonds (Dellwood and Cornell) in two colors - chili (brown) and black. If they fit, why not.

If I were you, and $175 per pair of shoes was my budget, I would get the grensons. you're getting a $500-600 for about a quarter of the cost. I'm thinking about doing it myself, but right now I'm about to begin yet another apartment move so I'm waiting until I've moved in and got my address information updated before ordering new stuff... So far, the only Grenson I have is a footmaster boot. Good stuff, but I want to try the masterpieces...

As someone who lives in Atlanta and has been shopping at Bennies for a lot of years (long before their current Grenson-inspired popularity) let me say that I've worn and loved these shoes over the years. For me, at least, their sizing has always seemed a little quirky, however. (I'm pretty much a perfect 8.5 in everyone else's shoes, but an 8 in Magnanni is the best fit.)
