Magenta (is that the same as fuschia?) is one of my favorite colors for casual wear and for dress accessories (neckties). I'm not sure I would wear that shirt, but I would wear a solid polo shirt in magenta.

I own a solid magenta polo shirt and always feel out of place wearing it...not because it's magenta, but because it clashes with my low-contrast skin/hair coloration. I think magenta is perfectly acceptable if it flatters your coloration and I do have a magenta/blue/cream striped tie that is one of my most versatile ties.

I'm perfectly comfortable wearing pink and get loads of compliments (in fact, I got 5 compliments from co-workers yesterday when I wore a pink OCBD under a light blue jacket with navy trousers).

Where does pink end and magenta begin? Must be my monitor. Anyway, I'd concur with the above about it looking best on olive/darker complexions and dark hair. Many Italians and Spanish pull off this colour, whatever it is, quite comfortably. IMHO, I'd say your colouring is a touch to pale to wear it. Same as me. If you can wear it with confidence, go for it and screw what I say.

In last year's Asprey sale, I got myself a cashmere sweater in magenta (or "˜shocking pink' to use Mme Schiaparelli's name). It was greatly reduced, I believe by 80%. At normal or slightly reduced price, I probably would not have had the chutzpah to go for that colour.

But having gotten the sweater, I really like the colour. It's great for summer evening when it might get a touch chilli. Bleached out jeans, white or pale blue shirt and a magenta sweater slung across the shoulders. --- Niiiiiiiiiice.
