On 25 June, 2019, I visited Maftei, and gained a pair of square toe-Norwegian... I did not have enough time to place an order, so, I purchased a bespoke sample at 700 Euro. Note that this shop does not accept cc, you have to pay by cash. Although Mr. Maftei did not speak English, we communicated by writing. In the next time, I will place an order at shop or trunk show somewhere (in Korea or Japan).

Do you know if there are ATM machines nearby?

Dies anyone know how maftei , materna hold up against Scheer, John Lobb and Silvano Lattanzi?

Best

wow... difficult question. I'm afraid you will not find someone, who can compare these...
I'm very happy with my Materna bespoke Oxfords. I decided to go with Materna instead of Maftei because of the last styles (typically vienneese) and the in-shop manufactory by hand / by their craftsmen...

Because I wear Maftei and none of the other makers you mention, I will say Maftei holds up best. Not biased at all ?

Here are two pictures of my second pair of Maftei shoes. This time I went for brown half brogue oxfords. I asked Lucian to alter the last for this pair so the shoes are a bit longer and rounder than the black shoes. No natural light here at the moment, so the pictures were taken under a table lamp. Sorry about that.

I asked Lucian for the hollow shoe trees. They fill every inch of the shoe since they are in fact a handcarved copy of the last used for making these shoes. The trees are just awesome! Maftei also offers a hand carved three piece shoe trees which are very old world in a beautifiul way. For my next pair, which is currently work in progress, I am deffinitely going to go for these shoe trees.

Since you asked the master alter the last, can I say you are buying a pair of bespke shoes at price 900 EUR?

Would you mind telling us the price?

Sure, but there is a 2019 price list in this thread a little higher up and it is accurate. It was 1250 euro for the first pair. I believe after that it is 900 euro for subsequent pairs. This includes shoe trees. Materna, the other semi-affordable Western European bespoke shoe maker (well, there is a third one in Florence too) has raised their prices quite a bit. I can't remember exactly, but I believe they told me around 1900 euro. Admittedly, they offer a much fancier store front and more luxurious shopping experience.

Very informative. The list is in German? I cannot read.
Thank you, their price is so good!

Ah, ok, so the prices on the list are, in euro
250 extra for the first pair (for the last making)
1000 for leather shoes with a handwelt last (sorry, was mistaken on the 900 thing)
1300 for a wholecut
900 for leather shoes with a wood peg last
3000 for crocodile leather
1600 for stingray, ostrich, or elephant
1500 for a shoe that is leather mixed with exotic leather
1200 for leather boots
3500 for croc boots
1400 for nordic collection boots (looks to say these are waterproof)
1800 for boots in stringray etc
Ladies shoes are 20% less
Patina adds 100 euro
A belt is 120-180 for leather and exotic
250 for a croc belt
40 euro for shipping (though he didn't charge me this)
50% up front and the rest at the end, though I paid in full up front.

Each pair comes with shoe tree, shoe bag and box?
Then the price is unbelievable.
