Thanks, the fit is kind of amazing.

Maftei blows my mind with his ability. This is his second attempt, since the first pair of these did not fit. I had done an initial fitting in person back in December. When I got the ones in April they didn’t fit, I just sent him photos of them on my foot. Gave him the areas I thought were problems. 2 1/2 months later these show up at my doorstep, and they are literally a perfect fit. Just remarkable ability I’d say.

Just had Lucia Maftei measure me for my first pair of Maftei shoes. Does anybody know the name of her daughter? I placed my order through her since she is fluent in English, but her name slipped my mind. Overall, impressive customer service, and certainly doable for anybody with zero proficiency in German.

I'm having a black captoe made for my first shoe with a classic but sleek last, a la EG 82. I'm to email them a picture of what I want they'll replicate it.

What type of sole would you guys recommend? I'm tempted to get a pegged sole as I have nothing like that.

Her name is Roxana, and she is awesome at helping. Maftei is of course a master as I mentioned in my post above. You won’t be disappointed!

I’d go for the pegged soles if I were you. They are cool looking, and something I’m going to get if it’s available next pair I get from them.

She actually is based in Oslo, as of three years ago

I'm also considering to change to bespoke shoes, as I have troubles with many ready to wear shoe lasts. Since I live in Vienna Maftei seams to be a very good option. This thread was quite helpful so far. First contacts with Roxana Maftei via email and phone encouraged me further to give the bespoke way a try.

You are a lucky man. If I lived in Vienna, they would be the only shoemakers shoes I would wear.
