My copy is ordered and paid for. I will be getting shortly after midnight. It should be much better than 07. I like the telestrator option they will have so i can show people exactly where Roy Williams burned them. If anyone is getting it for the Wii and wants to play online, send me a message.

I only have a ps2 still and i'm guessing it won't even be worth it for me to buy it for the system as they probably did nothing more than update rosters. My roomate might get a xbox360 and if he does, i'll probably play it.

I never understood the whole camping out/preordering thing. You know you can just walk into walmart around 12-2am and just pick it up and pay for it right? I was at walmart late at night last year and i didn't even realize it was coming out until i saw some guy at the register with it.

Word. EA has been on cruise control for a couple years now. The reviews for this iteration have been glowing though, so hopefully they have the formula down again for new-gen. So, you guys are all going to buy those sweet Jostens rings, right?

Well when you have exclusive rights to the NFL and NFLPA, what do you expect? When 2K sports also had rights to the NFL and NFLPA the quality of the footballs were much better.

QFT. EA had the money to strong-arm 2K Sports out of the way in the NFL, as EA was getting their asses handed to them year and year again with the 2K series that long-time Madden fanboys were even starting to switch to 2K

I heard a rumor that the NFL actually approached EA with exlcusive rights because they were upset 2k sports sold their final version of their football game with NFL&NFLPA support for $19.99 right out the gate.

It's some sort of mask that BergdorfGoodwill posted in another thread.

Bought it late yesterday for 360 and played two games including using a fantasy draft. Overall much better than 06 and 07.

The Good:
  • The gameplay is very smooth and takling and juke animations are sweet.
  • Early on I could tell that the gameplay is very deep, you can audible to just about anything, there are hundreds of juke moves, etc. These features should add life to the franchise and reward players who really invest in playing a lot.
  • The "weapons" feature is a nice touch and does make a difference, Reggie Bush, for example, is flashy just like his real life counter-part. Mike Vick is nearly unstoppable when he gets outside the pocket, 94 speed.
  • Graphics are probably a notch above last year.
  • Soundtrack is above average.
  • Trophies and ring features, which you unlock running for 200 yards in a game etc. can be gambled in head to head play.

The Bad:
  • Way too many turnovers. In the two games I played I counted 7 fumbles and 12 interceptions. My buddy who is an avid Madden player threw 5 in the FIRST HALF with 97 rated Carson Palmer. It got to be almost comical. Luckily you can turn down this feature.
  • If you are up more than 21 points against the CPU they will begin to play superhuman and get back into the game. I'm talking one handed picks, random fumbles, etc. Really annoying.
  • The "home town" announcer is extremely annoying. Why not have Madden on every game? I felt like it took away from the experience. Mitigating this is the constant barrage of **** talking. Chad Johnson is especially good in this area.

BTW my 360 ID is bnay. I'm up for playing and destroying any SF member.

Sounds like "The Bad" are the same problems the game has always had. Except the third one, I've never heard anyone want MORE Madden

+1. The first problem most likely can be neutralized with sliders; hope this is the case with the second one, at least to some degree...

BTW, please tell me Madden 08 allows gang-tackling. That's the one thing I miss most about ESPN NFL2K5.

Is there a slider for fumbles? I had heard that there was only one for interceptions.

Have they fixed the atrocious run blocking and the fact that the running back likes to stick to the back of blockers?
