Mainly Weiner defending himself but this caught my eye: "Viewers of the penultimate season have so far learned that advertising man Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, remains tormented and is cheating on new wife Megan (Jessica Pare). " I remember saying in another MM thread I thought this was the second last season and at least one other person said Weiner had signed for five more years. I wonder which it is?

Does anyone know where we are in the year on the show. The MLK assassination happens in April, so I have to think that's coming up in the next few episodes.

A lot of real world drama that should unfold this season. MLK and Bobby Kennedy, Tet Offensive, the Democratic convention riots, Johnson declining to run.

I think ep 2 was NYE and in ep 3 Megan miscarries and mentions it was about six weeks in from their Xmas Hawaii trip.

Seems like a lot of folks are complaining that Don has become a miserable character, that he isn't as cool as he was, but I always assumed that was the inevitable trajectory of his character arc. We're close enough to the end that I could see dark days ahead.

Thought the season opener was slow but have enjoyed the last few eps. Sunday's was great. Heartbreaking, though, to see the changing styles. Fits with my theory that 1967 was the turning point for men's clothing.

I can't imagine another 5 years of this show. It should've ended by now.

I am finding the Dawn character too contrived. Her development is not very organic nor very subtle.

I'm so glad my fears of a contrived, beat the viewer over the head moment, did not happen with the Dawn character. I was afraid something like, say, Joan giving her a wtf awkward unwanted hug might happen. Glad we dodged that bullet!

Other than the Twin Peaks insurance guy, that whole episode sucked. One of the worst in recent memory.

Except for Don basically saying he does not love his kids.

well, I don't think you have to worry about Ginsburg taking her to the wedding.

No kidding! I kept thinking about how he drove off to pick up sally's birthday cake and not bothering. Or when he almost left his family in California. Don is truly a sociopath. I don't understand how he can do that, yet show compassion for Peggy during her post pregnancy issue or with Joan in a number of instances.

He's not truly a sociopath is the thing. He is just majorly fucked up in the head. Also, the big take away from his maundering to Megan is that he has discovered he does indeed love his oldest son. It's a big development for Don. You see it's not that he cannot feel, but due to his really bad childhood, he's learned to pick and choose who he cares for and how.
