Agreed. I can only imagine how much fun it would've been to have had clothing forums back when Brideshead aired.

I am the only one who finds all this a little pathetic?

Although I am pleased that the show is inspiring a more sophisticated dress amoung men I am not a big fan of the fashions of the 50's. I don't like that it promotes the skinny tie and small lapel look and the horrid thin clip on bowties as well. I do enjoy the show but find myself distracted by these things.

Distracted by the period fashion of the main characters? Do films set in the 70s or 80s likewise distract you?

similarily, yet on the opposite end, I dont like how it promotes the slim tie/small lapel look as it's now become the "Mad Men look" [IMG], plenty of guys were dressing that way before anyone ever thought to pitch the tv show.

Agreed. I almost regret doing the MadMed contest because I am now that "Mad Men" guy in my social circles.

It appears that for iGents Mad Men will accomplish for the 1960s what Brideshead Revisited accomplished for the 20s and 30s.[IMG]

    I'll drink to that.

I am the only one who finds all this a little pathetic?

    Yes. Now go away.

I thought I would post this from GQ's new web site blog. It is about the new BB Mad Men suit, which I must say I think is a bit cheesy of them, but I guess I can see why someone there thought it was a good idea. Anyway, Janie Bryant, the show's costume director, goes beyond BB and into a lot of the costume themes that have been discussed here. There is also a very nice picture of her!

Time to resurrect this thread yet again as the 4th season of Mad Men is but three weeks away. Attached is a nice review of the costumes for season 4 by Janie Bryant, the show's costume designer, which I got from the always fun Sartorially Inclined. She seems to be more focused on the women's costumes, but it is still interesting. As always: Discuss.

I'm one of those guys who doesn't get all the love for Christina Hendricks. Her breasts look like two big deflated tires.

I agree, these large breasted women look beastial. Poast some pictures of their ankles so we can assess their ability to carry heavy loads.

85% of posters here are size 36S, a woman like that is incredibly intimidating to them you know[IMG]
