Machine wash/dry H&M dress pants to shrink fit?

I bought the cheap $25 h&m dress pants, which are almost paper thin, and I was wondering if it was Okay to machine wash and dry them.

I know h&m is really cheap and I was worried that machine washing/drying the pants would ruin them.

The pants are SLIGHTLy long on the crotch and total length area and I was hoping that a machine wash/dry would help fix this problem as well.

wear them higher?
I know it's kinda dorky to wear trousers by your belly button, but try it- you'll like it

Well is it possible to wash/dry shrink h&m pants without it getting ruined?

They shrink pretty badly. Also, not as evenly as one would hope. Proceed at your own risk. I won't advise for or against it.

if they shrink in the length they may also shrink in the width. can they be tighter?

If they're made of wool they may shrink a whole lot. I don't think polyester will shrink much. If they are cotton dress pants it depends on if they have been pre-shrunk, what the weave is, etc.

I think you should just save up some money to buy some better fitting, higher quality pants. You'll be glad you did.

Not sure about inches, but all I know is that I've had a pair of linen pants that had a full break before I washed. I had to take them to the tailor to let them out afterwards.

It's cotton, and how much does the shrinkage vary by anyways?
