If you don't want to destroy your battery in the first place, don't leave it in whilst you're working on your plugged in Mac. If the battery is plugged in all day, it will die much quicker than if you physically take it out when it's fully charged.

I work at home a lot, so I literally remove my battery and leave the laptop plugged in to the mains. My batteries last much longer that way.

I know, it's just so bloody hard to pay these monkeys more money.

there is a possibility that the replacement batteries are actually good, though. i would search for product reviews on google or cnet or some other consumer review site

i basically just use my dead-battery macbook as a desktop, anyway. i doubt i'll ever replace the battery

it's been going on three years now, i wonder when the machine itself will die

I've got a spare Apple laptop battery.

When I get home, I'll post the model #.

I forget which laptop it went with but I think it was a 13". Not a new one though.

My problem is that I want to give all my money to a site with a booty slapping purple hippo.

Extremely kind of you, but I think I'll follow kunk's advice and bite the bullet.

Sorry, I forgot to check the battery.

It's an Apple PowerBook battery, model M5654

It looks a lot older than the battery you had pictured and it's smaller.

Here it is with a list of compatible laptops.

I walked into apple with the battery and the little applette said it may be covered under the warranty. I now have an appointment with a "genius." I'm going to ask to see his mensa card.

Don't think I'm not watching this thread, 'cause I am.
The second I can figure out something to ***** about, I'll hit this thread with a vengeance.

If your battery isn't under warranty, how much does the replacement from Apple cost?
