I don't care if it's powered by fusion and gets 1,000,000 miles from a bucket of water; it's still the ugliest C-class MB has ever made. Really, other than for the sheer fact that it's a Mercedes and people want to show off that they own a Mercedes, who would actually purchase this car?

Not sure about the ugliest ever, but ditto! This car was overdesigned to not say much.

Yes, I'd rather drive an understated Honda Accord than clearly show to the world that I want to drive a Mercedes but am so poor that I can only afford a C-class.

I don't know if that's fair - some people like the idea of driving a smaller car. I wouldn't buy one of these small 4-doors, but there it is.

42mpg on gas or Diesel? US or Imperial gallons?

If the answer to both questions is the first choice, that's pretty impressive.

Yep, look at how ridiculously large the logo is on the C-class vs the new S-class:

Mercedes has always been short on looks. But anyone who knows **** knows why.

I love small cars, will probably only buy them as long as I can get away with it, but am not feeling the C class. In the class, I prefer the Lexus IS. I am also eagerly awaiting to see what the new 4 door Accord and Acura TSX look like.

42MPG is quite good though, if that is real world driving. Cars like the Prius and others were recently marked down due to over exaggerations in normal conditions. I think they marked the Prius from 65 to 48MPG.

Diesel. Bluetec is the name Mercedes is using for their new diesel emissions control system.

Personally, I think it is a decent looking car. Also I am huge diesel fan so I am glad you posted this article. My first car was a MB 240D and we had a tank in our garage we used to fill the car (we used home heating oil, which you can burn in a diesel car).

Right now I am driving a volvo 850 I bought after college, but when it kicks the bucket my next car will be some kind of diesel. VW has the TDI's but MB would be a nice alternative. I really respect their commitment to offering high performance diesel in the US market-- I Think more firms ought to.
