Hi. Do you find that the authentic M-65s run fairly true to size? I want to get one in gray. I'm 5'6", 135 lbs, 38 short jacket, 31 waist. I'm guessing I should get the size small.

Also, for those that have one, is the gray a medium, or does it seem darker or lighter than the web pictures to you?

Pretty much any military surplus jacket is going to run big. It's made for layering and storing stuff. If you're normally a medium, i'd get a small. This is from trying on a jacket and a peacoat at my military surplus store. You probably have a local store if you wanted to get a feel for sizing, but i'd imagine they'll be big. They certainly won't be a slim fit for its size.

The black NATO one I have runs very large. I'm 6'5"/200lb/40 long yet a small is still baggy/long on me even with the button-out liner in. You'll probably need an x or xx-small for anything approaching a fitted look. I should've bought an x-small myself. As another poster said, they're practical coats designed to be worn as an outer layer with a full combat uniform to keep soldiers warm for long periods in wintery climates, so there's plenty of space inside. They're also well made and very, very warm with the liner in. If you want a fashion fit and live anywhere quite warm/want to wear it inside then you'd probably be better off going with a replica/fashion-brand version. I bought mine as a fashion item but it ended up being my go-to coat when it was raining/snowing.

Get the smallest size you possibly can. I think that will be Extra-small. Do they even make an xx-small? If they do, buy that. I'm a bit bigger than you and an x-small is a little baggy on me.
