Sugar cane has a similar design, which when worn looks really nice. It looks like an old worn out levis arcuate. It really is a toss up with which to get. I would probably get the LVCs just for ease of acquiring. You should probably get a size 32 and do a warm wash to shrink them down when you get them.

I usually wear a W30. But my LVC was a 31, which fits already pretty snug(yeah, they shrink a lot AND size small to begin with). I washed them once (regular warm 40°C machine wash), and stretched the waist back from 29 to 31 before hang drying. The length went from 34 to 31 though.

If you are like me, and only wash your jeans every six months or more and are in complete control of the process, it's not that much of a pain to stretch it back and make sure it dries with the waist "extended" by a clip-on hanger.

I like my canes, too. Not a brand-loyal type, but these things resonate with me. It is the sweet sorghum that does it, I think. I used to gnaw on a sugar cane as a youngblood---it is an affinity that is beyond my control at this point. I hereby declare that I will only buy jeans that are a sweet sorghum blend. Take that.

Personally I take Japanese brands over LVC any time. There are a lot of Japanese heritage brands and therefore there is more diversity and it's more likely that you will find the pair that is right for you. I also think that the details are more exciting, you can get denim that is and looks better and they will also be more exclusive. The difference in price is rather small and sometimes non-existant.
I also think that the fact the these brands shrink to tag size makes it a lot easier to get the right size than with LVC, and they lose (much) less color on the initial wash.

    LVC ~ 154
SC ~ 260 (US price, cheaper to get from a source in Japan)

Don't LVC's start at $175 now? You can get the SC 47's for around the same price if you order from xcoldricex.
