I saw a display for Persols over a year ago and fell in love, the modern take on an old style. I did a little research and saw the "handmade in Italy" video and all the usual marketing material. It wasn't until this past week someone told me to watch the 60 minutes segment on sunglasses. Now I thought there is no way Persols could be manufactured by a global conglomerate like Luxottica but there in the print clear as day is Persol.

I love the eyewear but feel as though I'm buying something Luxottica is cheaply making, won't stand behind and could be selling the lesser version of elsewhere for a lot less. Do I bite the bullet and buy something I fell in love with? Anyone with Persols have any advice?

I'm looking at the P02747S model

I'm not sure what it really is that concerns you. Sunglasses are somewhat disposable items, in my opinion, and it bothers me not at all that a great many are made by Luxottica. I have upwards of twenty pair of sunglasses and Persols are far and away my favorite. I've been wearing a pair of 9649s for over a year now. I have three other Persol models, various Ray-Bans, AO, Randolph, and others.

My advice would be to not over-think it. If you see a pair you like and the price is acceptable, then buy them and enjoy them.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
