Luxire Jacket Home Try On Fitting Advice

Hi all,

Looking for advice on the fit of a jacket I ordered from Luxire. Decided to add on the fitting option based on previous recommendations in the main thread. This is my first order with them.

Notes:
  • My only other suit is a J Crew Ludlow Slim fit 40R. The chest got too tight so I went up about 2 inches.
  • I was inspired by Cifonelli's 6x1 jackets that show a decent amount of shirt, but wanted something a little more toned down in terms of lapels.
  • I'm wearing a Charles Tyrwhitt 15.5" neck super slim fit dress shirt with 34" sleeves. It's probably too tight now. Pants are Banana Republic linen pants, not the final suit pants.
  • Internal Lining, Half Lining
  • Shoulder Sleeve Attachment, Soft Natural Sleeve Attachment
  • Vent, side vent
  • Interlining, Full-Canvas
Questions:
  1. There's some loose stitching roughly at where the sleeve and bottom hem should be. Does that mean that's where it will be folded over?
  2. The sleeves feel like they bunch in the back and when my arms move, but I'm not sure if that's just due to the jacket being unfinished?
  3. Any other areas that look like they don't fit?
Thanks and looking forward to any feedback on the fit before I send it back!

I'd try posting here as there are some actual bespoke tailors who post on that thread, but be aware that not all questions get answered

Luxire will be the best people to answer your first question. And of course you should be sharing these photos with them for their input.

Some uneducated observations without any specialized knowledge on how to address them
- a small collar gap, more obvious on your left
- when the jacket is unbuttoned, the grain lines of the fabric don't run vertically - they splay out towards the bottom of the coat. This may indicate an issue with the balance of the jacket.
- on the frontal view, jacket is collapsing a bit at the sides (by your elbows). Unsure whether this could be related to jacket balance or something else entirely.
- some bunching of fabric in the small of your back
- minor but either your jacket sleeves are slightly long or your shirt sleeves are a bit short. I think it might be a combination of the two.

Thank you! I'll post it there as well. Definitely sending the photos to Luxire as well but wanted some second opinions.

For this, do you think it's due to the nature of the double breasted design?

Can you explain what you mean by collapsing? As it the wrinkles? Also what do you mean by jacket balance? Thanks again

Arrows are pointing to what I am calling 'collapsing' but may not be the right terminology.

Lines show the diverging vertical grain of the fabric and suggests a vertical balance issue. Note too how the bottom of the right and left hem are not horizontal/parallel to one another. There may also be a right-left balance issue as the bottom of the right hem is lower than the bottom of the left hem (low right shoulder?).

Two threads on balance - mostly front-back

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
