Do you think it is possible to alter old pants regarding the crotch issue?

Old pants or the old pants pattern? If you have the issue on a pair I would suggest talking to a local tailor.

Saw a pattern for this as your comment came after an outrageous one some time ago by another dear customer.

I think the faith needs to be on us to deliver a 100% product. Someone new can be jittery, but, seasoned customers, if still not sure, comes as a surprise.

    1. No, the old pattern is modified, unless the changes are drastic.

    2. We do not make patterns for collars and cuffs for each order, unless they are unique for the order. We use them from our standard set of patterns and keep adding to them the new ones that are made.

Did have an exchange with Harrison of Edinburgh today and we should be able to make you anything from their collection. Will also try and add some of their stuff on the site. Do let us know if any collection should be prioritized.

Alterations are covered by our standard policy. No reason why these would be treated differently.

As for the technical aspect, cotton trousers that have been washed a few times are not great for altering as the removed stitches would show. Not seen a lot of problems in wool trousers anyways. They are also easier to alter.

That's good news! Lots of nice fabrics in their collection. The sunbeam line looks particularly nice for the summer season and moonbeam for the winter months, depending on pricing of course.

White pique polo shirt, it came out fabulous. Collar and placket replicated from a standard LL bean polo. Will order in more colors.

The only issues I'm ever worried about are details not being carried through from order to order. Reiterating every measurement and detail helps to solve this problem, but hasn't always worked. To be fair, I'm not exactly ordering standard items.

This might explain why my extended cuff length tends to shrink back to something more normal ;)

I have a long-sleeve cotton-linen popover in the works that I am excited about.

    @luxire

Thanks so much for the quick response! Would you mind if I followed up on this answer?

Is the old pattern modified permanently when minor adjustments are requested? I ask because I am planning to go through a few iterations to nail down my shirt fit and I'd like to minimize the chances of miscommunication along the way.

For the sake of argument, let's say I go through the following three shirt orders:

Order #1: entered custom shirt measurements.
Order #2: Please see order #1 but reduce biceps by 0.5" and reduce waist by 1"
Order #3: Please see order #2 but increase waist by 0.5"

So what happens with order #3? If the pattern for order #2 is the permanently altered pattern for order #1, then I assume it is permanently altered again for order #3 and the biceps has already been reduced as per order #2's instructions.

On the other hand, if it is only an adjustment at the time of cutting using the original pattern #1, then for order #3 the person cutting the shirt from the order #1 pattern has to figure out that the net alteration is to reduce the waist by 0.5" from order #1 and also to remember to reduce the biceps by 0.5" as well. In this case, the risk of error would go up as more iterations are done (orders 5, 6, and so on).

And finally, if the alterations are permanent, what if I want to order, say, a new casual shirt and I already have a dress shirt pattern at Luxire? Can I request that an entirely new pattern be made for the casual shirt based on the dress shirt pattern, so that the original dress shirt pattern is not modified, or is it safer to create a new order with new measurements and avoid referencing the dress shirt pattern?

Thanks again for your help. I'm really looking forward to working with your company.

Awesome! Let me see if I can request some swatches from them, but I'll almost definitely want something from their Tartan collection.
