I have little experience with Barbera, aside from having looked at some nice shirts/sweaters in stores I can't afford to shop at. I wasn't even aware that Barbera made ties until I came across one in a thrift store today. This tie was absolutely god awful -- it was one of the most thin ties I have ever seen, had no body, formed a poor knot, had an unattractive design, etc. Is this par for the course for Barbera neckwear? I was really surprised by this considering the accolades I have seen heaped on Barbera stuff here...

I have a few Barbera ties from the late 90's.. and they are quite good. Nice hand and heft to the silk, ties a wonderful knot, and has just the right lining thickness. Very nice ties. I haven't bought any since so I wouldn't know about the newer ones.

That's odd - I have a good 7-8 Barbera ties and they're all very substantial and tie a great knot.

Was it a silk tie? Most of the silk ties i've seen by barbera have been very heavy. The only thin tie i've seen by them is a linen tie that we are selling at the store i work at the is thin, but still ties up nicely.

It had that "Stafford" feel to it, haha.

Does the "Barbera Club" line make ties? What color was the label? Could it be of inferior ties like the barbera suits at Century 21?

I have a Barbera tie. It is substantial and well made. I wonder if the tie you have is a fake or an outlet specific tie.

I think the label was monochromatic, but I honestly don't remember. I didn't buy the awful thing.

I have at least half a dozen and they are B+ neckties. No problems.
