Sapa is an old French hill station, discovered and built on the 1940's, nestled among the Hoang Lien Son Mountains near the Chinese border, now it is the famous destination in the northwest Vietnam. Sapa Love market is a traditional culture of the ethnic peoples like Mong, Dao in Lao Cai in particular, and in the northwestern region of Vietnam in general since long times ago, this is the place that the girls and guys find out their lover and then they can get marriage, which takes place every Saturday night. This due to the villages far away from the center love market are held only once a week and people living in the far mountain villages have to go in advance on Saturday morning to be able to join it, since morning many girls show up in colorful costumes and silver ornaments, the little bells on their outfits add to the festive atmosphere. On Saturday night girls and guys from the villages have a chance to get to know each other by joining such activities as playing leaf-horns, blowing Khen La, playing traditional games, singing and dancing, etc. After the night, many couples become intimate and promise to see each other again
