Lots of John Lobbs on ebay

There is a seller on ebay (sausage234) who has more than 20 John Lobbs for sale. Anyone have any dealings with him? I found a pair of Lobbs that I like, but in the auction he states that in the lining they are stamped with an "R", and the only thing I can think of is that these are a Rejects. What's your take?

Anyone have any experience with the Lobb last 8000? what are they like in comparision to EG 888 or 808?

THanks,

R

I have bought all my Ebay Lobbs from modern-vintage, who is great.

I have bid on sausages's shoes but not won. He is now slightly annoying in that now that I hav bid on one of his shoes he constantly emails me to alert me when he has more listed in my size. I'm like "I know, duh, I check Ebay 350 times a day."

Anyway, that's my Ebay Lobb experience for you.

p.s.: I also love the 8000 last. I'm not good at comparisons, so I'll leave that to someone else.

I've bought shoes from sausages234 - they are, indeed, Rejects from Northampton, but are fine shoes. I got the Vintage 2004 and they have treated me well...

I think they're samples; great choice by the way.

Thanks Koji...

The antique Burgundy for EG would be a first for me. I hope the pictures are a good representation of the actual color.

How does one tell a sample or reject EG model?
Is there also a stamp on the lining like JL?

I've noticed these Lobb's as well. Does anyone have experience with the 5495 last? I have Lobb Perriers on the 8695 last and they are probably my best-fitting shoes. How does the 5495 compare with the 8695?

John Lobb Paris' factory is in Northampton. I don't think it's a convention to refer JLP as John Lobb Northampton.

I generally wear 9.5F in Grenson Masterpiece, and 10.5D in the usual AE's (probably a 10E for the Park Avenue last).

If I were to get something in the 8695 last, would I be better off with a 9.5E or a 10E?

Don't worry, I'm not interested in getting the plum museum calf captoes right at this moment....

Please corect me if I'm wrong - but I think:
John Lobb Paris is owned by Hermes and makes shoes in Northhampton.
John Lobb London is a bespoke only operation in London.
