Loro Piana Zenit Fabric: Cashmere and Chinchilla?? Ran across this fabric. I never heard of a cashmere-chinchilla blend; anyone know the % of chinchilla in this type of fabric?

it's 80% cashmere 20% chinchilla. Loro Piana has a 2/11nm yarn with this fiber content, which i suspect is what they used for this fabric

Thank you. Would this blend be more expensive than 100% cashmere? What does the chinchilla add to the fabric or is it just a novelty?

It is definitely more expensive than their 100% cashmere due to the rarity of chinchilla fiber in yarn form. In fact, this is the only yarn that i know of that has this fiber content. (And there are over 111,000 different commercially available yarns out there. So, super rare)

As for it's benefits, well...it''s mostly novelty. It's similar to angora in terms of airy/loft so that's a plus (warm but light)

The Zenit line is something like the top line of LP with vicuna, cashmere, 200s merino of 13microns etc. I dont get how they used chinchilla though. Did they shave them like sheeps or used their fur? I have read that chinchilla is about 21 microns.
