i just bought a jacket from one of my usual haunts. Loro Piana cashmere in a looser (coarser?), thicker weave. curiously, they called the fabric "Cheviot cashmere". now i only have a basic knowledge of fabrics, but it seems like what they did is that they did a rendition of Cheviot fabric, but instead of the normal Cheviot wool, they used cashmere...?! it's 100% cashmere, not a wool blend. i don't know if i even had a question, i just found it pretty odd and felt compelled to share it. here's a couple of close pics:

btw, the jacket is phenomenal. very much unlike "normal" cashmere jackets, but i find it awesome in its own way.

compared to my other cashmere jackets, it feels "coarser" to the touch (i.e. looks like they used thicker thread so the weave is not as tight), but is just as soft. does that even make sense?

it looks more casual than the other cashmere jackets i have, but the style also has something to do with that...
