And who's Lorenzo Caprile, you may ask? A Spanish top fashion designer. He specializes in bespoke wedding dresses.

    On his own words:

    "PREGUNTA: Nunca se pondría...

L.C.: ...el pañuelito de colores que algunos llevan en el bolsillo de la chaqueta. Me parece una horterada. Cuando veo a alguien con el pañuelo asomando pienso que ya no tiene arreglo. Es como llevar sandalias con medias"

    Translation:

    ""INTERVIEWER: You'd never wear...

L.C.: ...the small coloured handkerchief some people wear on the jacket's pocket. To me it's gaudy. When I see somebody with the handkerchief sticking out, I think it is hopeless. Like wearing socks with flip-flops"

He is entitled to his own opinion…but I think he is wrong  To quote one of the tailors in one of my London tailors when I asked him the same question a couple of years ago. Well sir is there a pocket on your suit coat…Then wear a pocket square in it!:D

You must be quite a sight when wearing a 4-pocket waistcoat.

In seriousness though, I like wearing pocket squares. But I'm hopeless for other reasons too, so I might as well.

I posted it here as an example of fearless, world-upside-down, totally-unconventional opinion

Maybe there is somebody lurking in this forum who always thought the same but never dared to say it aloud (is it "dared to say" or "dared say"?)

Simply because he claims to be a "top Spanish fashion designer" does not qualify him to have his opinion carry any more weight that a tramp in the street.

In fact such a comment rather suggests he is of little judgement and not worthy of that self appointed status. His comparison of wearing socks with flip flops makes no sense whatever given the impossibility of that situation.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion, but some opinions are worth more than others. On this topic, that dude's opinion isn't worth much.

Btw, we already had the let's bash pocket squares thread and there have always been some on SF who dislike them or refuse to wear them. This is not new.

I generally wear a white linen pocket square any time I am wearing a tuxedo or suit and sometimes when I am wearing a blazer and greys with a tie in the evening. I've happily worn them to work at times, though I am in a business casual office where jacket and tie are not required. I generally ditch the pocket square when I am not wearing a tie.

Looks like hell. Opinion irrelevant. A pocket square is not gaudy and even it it was, bombastic dandy dress has its place.

He designs wedding dresses. Was he, perhaps, talking about he gaudy fashion if matching one's tie, vest, and ps, all satin? He doesn't seem to dress well and, apparently, he does not dress men. So... neither my opinion on pocket squares, nor my desire to buy more, have been diminished.
