Loose Loafer Issue

Good day to all! I've recently purchased a pair of burgundy grain loafers from Morjas over a week ago. I was choosing between Size 7.5 or 8 and decided on getting the bigger one because I'd rather get a loose shoe than one that is on the tighter side. When the package arrived and upon fitting the loafer, I noticed that it is quite loose for me. When I am walking, my heels tend to come out of the shoe. I tried putting insoles which helped a bit, my heel still comes off but lesser now. I've also tried wearing thicker socks but it only helped a bit too.

Returning the shoe isn't a good idea because I live in a country where our taxes are too high (I paid around 50% more in customs duties/taxes when it arrived in my country so returning it would mean paying for the shipping back to the country of origin, and then re-shipping it back to me and paying taxes again. I've also watched a short clip on youtube saying that tongue pads might work and thinking of giving it a try. If the shoes were an oxford/derby then I would be much better since there are laces. But for loafers, getting the incorrect size is truly a nightmare considering my situation.

Will appreciate if anyone can share some tips or insights. Cheers! :)

I think an insole is a bad idea as it lifts your foot up and out of the loafer. Try tounge pads instead.

I would return them. Shoes that don't fit well never end up getting much wear, and down the line, you'll end up selling them for less money than what you'll get through a return. The import tax is a sunk cost at this point. Your choice is between selling or returning the shoes as they are in their current condition, or waiting down the line to resell them in a worse condition.

Return, definitely.

Loose loafers will never work. I've found tongue pads, heel pads, insoles etc to be a waste of time money.

I'd contact Morjas and see if they're willing to do an exchange for the next size down and provide proof that you paid taxes/duties.

I bought loafers from Herring with similiar issues, but I paid duties/taxes on their website. I did international exchanges and didn't have to pay duties again.

The EU is working on an easier tax/vat solution. I think it is due to be implemented some time next year. If anything it is worse to live in Europe outside of EU and have tax/VAT issues on all international orders.

Hello . First most of the loafers are must order half size down from your normal size . For example if my normal shoes 9 uk loafers gonna be 8,5 uk and they gonna be perfect ( Carmina / Meermin / Janko )
and about taxes I think is return policy ( so u probably can apply and will have return taxes when u sending shoes back and change them for size down . I think it’s worse to connect with tax office in your country .
