Hi guys,

As a birthday gift, I've been very fortunate to be able to choose between two hoodies:

A Loopwheeler classic fit sz medium black zip up hoodie

or..

A Spruce Navy Blue Tiger Fleece hoodie

From what I've heard, both hoodies fit and look great. Are there reasons why you guys would pick one over the other? (Aside from Spruce using RiRis and LW using YKKs?)

Thanks!!

Depends no what you're going for. The Loopwheeler is pretty understated and not as well fitting as the Spruce. But the quality on the LW is amazing, just no one will know it when you're wearing it. The Spruce on the other hand will draw lots of attention and is also of high quality.

Loopwheeler's selling point is their production method. They are both high end hoodies but yet on opposite spectrums. Have you also considered the LW slim fit hoodie as something in between?

DD, could you explain amazing quality here? I heard a lot of people saying the quality of this and that is top notch and such but never know the specific details.

It depends on your preference, really. Both have great construction.

I have both and both have their pros and cons. Loopwheeler is lighter weight, and the cut is not as slim as Spruce's (the loopwheeler I have is from their collaboration with The Ne which is a different cut, so this comment is just going on what I've heard). I do like the cuffs of Spruce more than Loopwheeler's.

Personally I like the tiger fleece that Spruce uses, but if you're picking one based on how flexible it would be for daily wearing, you can't beat black. Depending on where you live, it might also be a lot harder to buy something from Loopwheeler than from Spruce, so that's something to take into consideration as well.

You're a lucky dude. I wish somebody would give me that choice for xmas. Personally, I've never handled loopwheeler's stuff. However, I think the analogy is whether you like Sugarcane or Rag&Bone. One is traditional, purist. The other is modern, well constructed. Although I like the traditional stuff, I usually lean toward the modern stuff if I had a choice. I've handled a Spruce hoodie before and I think you can't go wrong with one.

How about getting a Loopwheeler as a gift, then give yourself a Spruce as a gift. Problem solved.

feeling generous. so i'm going to break it down.

loopwheeler slim = lighter in actual weight than a spruce- comparable warmth, similar if not slimmer cut than a spruce slim. fabric is much softer than a spruce hoodie. ykk double zip. elongated cuffs - looks like a regular hoodie otherwise.

loopwheeler regular = regular hoodie cut (read: wide)- heavier fabric, the "nap" on the inside is much thicker than the lw slim - probably a lot warmer than a spruce hoodie. ykk zip (double? i forget). looks like a regular hoodie period.

spruce: riri zip. weird kangaroo pocket (i always thought the shape of them was weird- but that's just my opinion, tha'ts why i usually stick to w&h). rougher fabric - not as "comfy" in my opinion. modern style- elongated cuffs, more interesting fabric patterns (tiger fleece, pinstripe, etc. if you're a fan). cheaper.

lw is low on stock now, so you might have your decision made for you already. my opinion? lw > spruce (mostly because of styling). however i put lw and w&h on equal levels - boils down to the difference in style, comfort, and zipper.

the lw09 is not the slim fit one right? i've been trying to find the slim fit measurements or even pics of em online. I had one i bought from a SF member but was single zipper, fairly good quality, but hardly anything to write home about.....

The clincher for me is that Loopwheeler is much more comfortable than Spruce. They are so soft and when you turn their sweatshirts inside out and see the loops you will see why.
