Looking to purchase a 1972 mercedes

hey guys, i'm looking to purchase a 72 280 sel 4.5l. how hard will it be to maintain this thing? it is my dream car. Piano black, red interior. :slayer:

any help would be appreciated.

I owned one. I got it in '93 and was the second owner. It only had 12K miles on it and was like new. I will post about it in the morning.

nice car and the 4.5 is nice, but can't tell from the pics if it has the pneumatic self-leveling suspension or the other one though (which is the one you want) - you'd need to go down and check for yourself in person.

believe it or not i actually want to lower the car, like this (scroll down) so id have to take that suspension out anyway right? (if indeed it had it)

i think it is the sexiest car ever, noone is really a fan of 4 door mercedes (the coupes are usually way more moneyz) but the 4 doors..... ahhhhhh so sexy :embar:

would not want one lowered like that, looks awkward. Gotta come to appreciate the beauty of old high-riding cars, no ground effects, big wheel gap, small wheels - that is a look in itself. Get a used W140 S-class if you want to make a Russian drug dealer's car that scrapes the ground.
