I don't have any because we can't wear them in the OR which is where I live

Right? That's the thing if you're in most academic or training hospitals, I think you have to wear hospital affiliated scrubs - at least I did. In my experience these are more likely to be worn by docs in private practice.

I'm a psychiatrist (inpt and outpt) mostly telehealth so I get to wear whatever I want. Lots of jackets/suits because I was used to that in training but today just some jeans and portuguese flannel shirt. So happy I may never have to wear scrubs again.

Hi guys, long time member but haven't posted in years.

Not trying to sneak this in as a free advertisement, but since we're on topic, I've recently launched a scrubs brand. Won't explain further than this because it's not meant to be a pitch, but rather looking for feedback -- would love to hear anyone's comments in PM. Seriously, as someone starting something new, any thoughts would be appreciated.

Currently wearing jogger/polo scrubs :hide:

I’m still looking for some linen joggers. Got a pair from margiela but would love other colors in a similar cut. Anyone come across any linen joggers or know of a place that would do one MTM?

For the fancy scrub set, why not just wear regular clothes?

I wear regular clothes in clinic. I do a lot of procedures and have the potential to get betadine or blood on my clothing. I guess that is a risk I am willing to take. I could see someone in a similar specialty wanting to wear scrubs just in case they get dirty.

I knew one guy who didn't do surgery or procedures, but wore scrubs because there was a study that said patients prefer physicians in scrubs.

haha whoa we got a scrub thread

Not a fully articulated thought on my part. I was just curious why people buy the fancy scrubs instead of wearing clothes they already have, either business casual or more affordable techwear-like stuff, that you could also use outside of the healthcare setting. I see what @hammerhead_corvette is saying, though, that patients are attuned to nurses and providers wearing scrubs and if someone walked in say in a lululemon or Nike set with a white coat on, it might be weird because they aren’t scrubs and it just looks like wearing sweats to work.

Well, you can’t/are not allowed to wear “regular” clothes in the operating room. If you are doing procedures in the clinic setting, taking care of patients in the emergency room, ICU, etc etc, where bodily fluid can splash on you, it is much more sanitary to wear scrubs, which can easily be washed and cleaned. And yes, part of it is the uniform aspect- patients may not take well to a nurse/surgeon/mid level provider walking in in their lululemon garb to draw your blood/drill your teeth/operate etc. you get the picture.
