Hello all,

I am going on a job interview tomorrow. A suit is not required so I am going with a BB navy blazer. It’s very dark and looks black indoors. The shirt is an older BB Oxford shirt in new like condition. This was made before the non iron fabric came out.

All of the pictures with the stone colored BB chinos are paired with mahogany colored Allen Edmonds Strands and a dk brown belt with small gold buckle.

All of the pictures with the light grey wool BB pants are paired with black Allen Edmonds Oxford Captoe shoes and a black belt with small silver buckle.

I have many more ties so if you think another style looks better, let me know.

I am partial to rep ties and brown leather shoes but I just want to make sure the outfits all go together.

Thank you

These are all brown shoe outfits.

Otherwise, aside from the prep schoolboy aesthetic to these outfits, I think you're fine... although I would need to know what sort of "no suit" job and office environment you're applying to, to opine on whether a tie and jacket are obliged.

That is good to know about the brown shoes.

Haha I didn’t even think of the prep schoolboy image! Now that you said that I don’t think I can unsee that!

The job is for a school librarian. I already work as a high school history teacher. Looking to change positions and work closer to home.

Well, your outfit is in keeping with the academic theme of your work, so I'd say any of these would work.

Switch the oxfords for a derby or loafer, if you can.

I don’t have either. I do need to purchase loafers.

I have a pair of tan bucks. Maybe they would go with the stone colored pants.

I think I’m leaning towards this outfit.

don't worry about buying new shoes just for the interview. What you have will work fine - don't overthink it. If school positions where you live pay what they do where I live you don't need to be wasting money on new shoes :)

Choose the tie color based on what attitude you want to convey. Red is power/confidence, green is friendly/peaceful, brown is...quiet, serious? More pattern = more light hearted-playful, slim stripe = a bit more formal (although the outfit is not too formal). Agree with the brown shoes comment.

Agreed! I bought these shoes about ten or more years ago. Not a bad investment at the time. I am prob less willing to spend that kind of money today. I thrifted the outfits you see above with the exception of the ties which I bought years ago.

Interesting! Most people I have showed the outfits to seem to like the grey pants and this last tie. I think That is what I am going with. The interview is in 1.25 hours so it's time to make my decision!
