Looking for nice fully-canvassed suit in slim fit

Hi,

After lurking for the past month, decided to finally take the plunge and harass the good forum members for some help. I've had a devil of a time finding anything that fits me, because I have such a large drop (41" chest, 30' waist - I'm 6" and 160 pounds, athletic), and pretty triangular in my upper body. The closest thing I've ever been able to find that fits was what I think is a half-canvassed McQueen 40R jacket that I picked up at consignment. Usually, I need 42R jackets, though I wonder if the issue with the 40 jackets is that they're fused (why the chest pops out?)

I've checked out the recommendations on slim-fitting suits, though wasn't sure which ones were fully canvassed. Then I found a Brioni on ebay that has mismatched pants with the following measurements:

Chest: 44" (mine is 41")
Shoulders: 19.5" (same as my McQueen jacket that fits well)
Trouser waist: 34" (length unhemmed) - my waist is 30"

I was wondering if this would likely fit me - the jacket is more important, as I'm wondering if a tailor would be able to make the likely necessary alterations (I've taken in pants from a 34 waist before without significant problems - I hope?). I'd appreciate people's input. Thanks!

-A

i am about the same size/build as you but my chest is 40. i usually wear 38R in Brioni but i always have to get the jacket and pant waist taken in. But everything else fits fine, are you sure you are a 42?

It depends, in some suits I'm a 40, in others I'm a 42. Granted, most suits that I've tried have probably been fused, which is why the chest would pucker out. Plus my overarm measurement is 49", which I think is 1" more than would be expected given my chest. Reasonably sure about the chest measurement, checked it 3 times with 3 different measuring tapes
