Terminology is not an insurmountable problem - bring pictures of the different options you want, or of different possible options if you're not sure what you want. That page you linked would be great for that. I know some posters here have used pictures to communicate with tailors in India. Or you can bring the tailor a garment that's in the style you want (if you don't have one, borrow one from a friend) and ask him to make something similar.
For my first pair of trousers, I just wore a pair of chinos that was along the lines of what I wanted. Even though language wasn't a problem, it was still easier to say "I want pockets like this", "I want the legs slightly wider than this" etc.
