Hi All:

It's been a couple years since I've updated my Pimlico's and I can't believe that Loake still has that absurd restriction in place. Anyhow, I'm interested in finding someone in the EU that can purchase a pair or two for me and ship to the US. Please send a PM with any ideas of thoughts or if you can help. Of course, I am happy to compensate you for your time.

Just FYI that model is based on the 026 last so much more like the Kempton rather than the Pimlico. I much prefer the latter.

If the OP doesn’t mind that slight difference, it’s not a bad substitute. Buying Loake through a proxy in the EU means that he would have to pay not only a proxy fee but also the full 20% VAT. Both could be avoided if he chooses the Herringshoes version.

Here are the description of the two lasts on Pediwear:

Greatly appreciate the responses. I'm really stumped on what to do. The Herring shoes are great, but I need the dainite sole. I can get the brown calf on EastDane and one other place. I've been trying to source the brown suede. I'll check out the Nordic site. I came across another Nordic site Carl of something and had planned to write them on a weekday.

I really still don't understand what Loake is doing with their restrictions. I wrote them directly and they provided a somewhat irrational and not very intelligent answer about how they are "looking out for their resellers" or something like that and suggested I buy through one of them. I lived in NYC at the time and checked all 4 or 5 Loake "retailers" and none offered this model of boot and could not get it. So it's a moot point with their approach to sales.

The Pimlico (Capital last) has become one of my most favorite over the years and I've worn everything from Green, to my many Santoni's, Viberg, etc. I still always go back to my Pimlico's when I need something sleek and casual and comfortable. So the 26 last won't work. I had a pair of Kempton's and the toe box was weird and tight despite having almost a similar profile.
