I've been looking and I can only find these these , but $600 isn't in the cards.

    Any leads?

These BB Peal burgundy pebble grain chukkas were 40% off a couple of days ago (1 day only sale). Semi-annual sale starts soon though. Better pics here.

If that's what you're looking for, I think "Desert Boot" is probably a misnomer. "Chukka boot" would be the proper term. A desert boot to me is a lightweight suede chukka boot (typically in tan) with a crepe sole, with Clark's being the definitive Desert Boot. Clark's Desert Boots are now made in Vietnam, as I recall, so there may be other variations on this theme of better quality.

Herring 'Jackie', similar to the Loake above, is also a nice one.

But wouldn't burgundy suede be awesome? I have the same association with "desert boot", but that could look amazing.

Thanks! Exactly what I'm looking for. Not surprising I couldn't find them as they're only available there.
JL, chukka might be the best term, but I've seen them used interchangeably so I figured people would know what I was talking about. Thanks for the clarification.

Last year, Massimo Dutti had suede desert boots in brown and gray but also in dark blue, burgundy, forest green... I bought the blue ones but couldn't find pictures of the burgundy ones. Perhaps the member in this post can help you?

In that case, you can find pics of Red Wing Gentleman Traveler chukkas in their black cherry color (which resembles burgundy) in the GT or RW thread on the Streetwear forum.
