In the U.S., Stein Mart has carried half-lined 100% linen suits in its way-downscaled Alan Flusser brand, in navy and tan. They're sold as separates. Jacket and trousers together cost around $100.

I was in a Brooks store the other day and I was eying up the seersucker Fitz, until I looked at the tag which said "made in Thailand". Even with their 25% off sale going on now, I am not paying that much for a machine made, non canvased, seersucker suit. I would assume the other summer suits are made in the same place.

The linen Fitz is made in Thailand. Half lined in cotton and fully canvassed. A decent deal at 25% off if it fits, but nothing to brag about. It is a nice fit though.

If you're in the NYC-area, try Daffy's. It's hit or miss, but I saw a decent-looking unlined linen suit (was in navy) with a moderate cut at one... it looked well worth the <$120 price tag.

I would have bought it if I hadn't just gotten back from the beach wedding I wanted it for.

Anything decent at a low starting price?

Realize this is an old thread but for those that find it because they are currently looking for something like this still figured I should chime and offer what I have recently found.

I got a couple of unlined 100% cotton suits from Uniqlo recently. Since it's Uniqlo they are sold as separates so I had to hunt a little bit. Wore the plaid version to a wedding with some Allen Edmonds shoes, a white shirt, light pocket square, and dark bow-tie and received numerous compliments all night. Since it's cotton it will look a little summery and wrinkly which seems to be more visible in the lighter colored suits.

I was originally hoping to find linen or linen cotton blend blazers and matching trousers similar to what the OP mentioned. I keep hoping that Uniqlo will release another run of linen or a linen-cotton blend blazers with matching trousers next time later this summer.

Hope this is helpful.

Oooh, this is nice! I'm also in the market for a linen/cotton suit for the summer and have a hard time finding something that doesn't break the bank. From my noobish understanding, linen/cotton casual suits are generally substantially cheaper than their more formal counterparts (wool). Besides Uniqlo and BB, are there any other recommendations? I've been taking a look at SuitSupply which I like, but not enough to actually commit and Kent Wang but the price is a bit too steep.

Any suggestions would be most sincerely welcome

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
