Hi, I'm looking for a windbreaker. I checked out Gap and found this jacket:
http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do...siteID=2178999
Shell is made of 60% cotton and 40% nylon, a fabric that dates back I believe to pre-Gore-Tex when Sierra Design made their Mountain parka. The fabric has a military orignin and they used to make parkas with 80% cotton 20% nylon in the time of the Korean war (like the fishtail parka shell) It's very windproof, silent and supple and more natural then just nylon and it breathes, no silly coating. I have a umbrella for dealing with rain in the city and don't need technical jackets. But they don't have it in store here yet. I believe Penguin also makes a 60/40 cloth windbreaker but I don't know where to find Penguin garments in MontrÃ
al.
I looked at the Taffeta nylon windbreaker at American Apparel but it's so short and shiny and $50 for that thing.
Do you have any recommendations and alternatives? I want something very simple, no flap pockets, no military gizmos to keep it lightweight and compact, and do the job of wind breaking. Btw, what is "luxurious nylon"?
Thank you
Frankie
