Akin to the C&J Tetbury in brown or burgundy cordovan. I assume trying to coerce C&J into bringing a non-shell model to shell for me would be ludicrous.

Saw that - it's not my size, unfortunately.

I'd also like to come in at less than 1700 bucks. Guess I should have qualified the post.

Yes - part of the allure of the Tetbury is the chiseled toe, which I haven't seen in the selection from Alden that I've looked at. If I can't go with a sleeker boot, I will probably get the Indy in cordovan or the wing-tip that Alden of Carmel will carry in a few months.

You might want to consider Carmina. They work extensively in shell cordovan, and the Rain last might be close to what you're looking for. I would imagine that it would run $800 or thereabouts. Martegani is another option, at a slightly lower price. Borgioli might be able to do it, too.

(And you wouldn't have to coerce C&J to make Tetbury for you in shell cordovan. You'd just have to fork over more than $1000. C&J likes to be well-compensated for its special orders.)

I figured that's what you were going for when you mentioned the Tetbury. I haven't seen any in person yet, but shoes made off the Plaza last seem to be the closest Alden has come to a sleek toe.
