I think it is a mediocre attempt at the lightweight, luxurious designs other brands do quite better. If you like it why not gert the Lanvin though? call the Paris shop and they'll sort you out...

$1100 for a wool coat seems overpriced. I like the cut, but I'm sure I could get something similar for cheaper.

It is wool/cashmere and quite inexpensive for Lanvin outerwear. You're not shopping for the right brands if you want to make savings, they sell $800 sneakers.
