I'd say definitely go the way of the small artisans and ask forum member unlucky if he can make you one to your specifications. Very reasonable prices and top quality work!

I REALLY like another LGC belt I have, so I recently got a braided one, the 5 braid, not the 7.

I'm not crazy about it. The first 12" or so of the loose end that's exposed isn't braided, so you don't even see the braiding in the front. It's just a big flat slab of somewhat thin leather. An older braided belt I have has the braiding all the way to the end, and it uses the braid as the part where the buckle hooks through it to fasten it. That's what I had expected.

But my notions about what a braided belt should be may not necessarily be correct. I like my other LGC belt so much, I would tend to give them the benefit of the doubt as far as this braided one. It just wasn't what I had expected, especially since these details didn't show in the pictures on LGC's site.
