Since I am snowed in today in Denver, I decided to do a little closet reorg. I came across a shoe box that I thought was empty. When I opened it up, out popped a brand new pair of Alan McAfee shoes. I got these after my grandfather died about 6 years ago and completely forgot about them. I did a search and discovered that these were pretty good shoes many years ago. I am guessing that these shoes are at least 30 years old and were maybe tried on once. Anyway, I thought I would share pictures and if anyone knows anything more about these, please let me know.

When I first saw this post, I thought the answer would be "Tom Cruise."

Very Lucky You. Beautiful shoes.
Hit them with some generous Lexol slop on .
Put it on the soles too.
Rest for a couple of weeks.
Generous Lexol again.
More on the soles too.
Next week try some Meltonian shoe cream.
They should be good for wear for at least 20 more years with regular maintenance.

They really look to be in fantastic condition given the age. If you would have not disclosed the provenance of the shoes, the first pic without any maker's mark would have suggested they were quite a recent model from one of the reputable top English makers.

Definitely a pair of shoes you will be proud to wear for the next twenty years. Especially given the fact they are somewhat of a family heirloom.

I agree. I think the color is perfect. My grandfather must have had 10 boxes of these that he never wore. Why I kept only one is beyond me

Beautiful shoes!!

How about an Oxxford update and also a travel horror update? Hopefully you made it back to Denver in time for Christmas.

Oxxford suit will be ready 1/9. Sam sent me a Brioni that I need to have fitted as well when I am down there next(possibly next week). Made it home Fri night before Christmas. Only 48 hours delayed.

Hey if it weren't for the Blizzard, I would not have found the shoes, and would not have been able to be fitted for the suit before Christmas!
